Don’t Pay for Tire Rotations

While
there are plenty of routine maintenance issues every driver will have to pay an
auto service shop to perform, there is at least one you should always get for
free.
Tire
rotation is extremely important to the life of your tires as well as their
safety. You should absolutely have your tires rotated on a regular basis, but
you should never pay for it and here is why:
Tire Stores Rotate for Free – Almost all tire stores and
many auto service shops will rotate your tires for free if you bought the tires
from them. There are even a few that will rotate tires for free regardless of
where you bought them in hopes you will return when its time for new ones.
Free
rotation service normally lasts for the lifetime of the tires and you can ask
them to rotate as often as you like. The majority of stores do not even require
an appointment, simply show up and ask for a quick rotation.
When
shopping for new tires be sure to verify the store policy on rotations and if
they do not offer the service free, shop around.
Brake and Other Inspections –
If you are
getting your brakes inspected or having just about any other type of vehicle
inspection done, a free tire rotation is usually offered. While there will be a
cost for the brake inspection, there should be no additional fees for the
rotation service. When deciding where to service your car look for shops that
offer free rotations.
Many
oil change outlets will also rotate your tires for free when you have your oil
changed. This can be an excellent way to keep your tires properly rotated, as
most vehicles require an oil change on roughly the same schedule as recommended
tire rotations.
Tire Safety – Properly inflated and rotated
tires are essential to keeping you and your family safe out on the road.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) roughly
10,275 injuries and 414 deaths occur each year due to tire issues.
Here
are a few tire safety tips:
·
Have
your tires rotated every 3,000-5,000 miles
·
Check
and adjust pressure at least once a month
·
Inspect
your tires regularly for damage or nails
·
Maintain
the proper tire balance
